Julie Rogowski, Vice President and General Manager

Julie Rogowski has been with the Boston Design Center for over 6 years. She began her career at the BDC in 2005 as the Director of Designer on Call and was promoted to Director of Leasing in 2007. In 2010 she was named Vice President and General Manager.

Overseeing the assets of this 550,000 square building, she manages all strategic leasing initiatives, develops all prospects, and oversees all marketing initiatives and events that build brand awareness for the 87 individual BDC tenants. She plays an integral role in the management of the building and acts as an advocate for the BDC tenants   During her time at the BDC, she has maintained an exemplary tenant occupancy rate while continuing to oversee the development of the Designer on Call and Plush consumer membership programs and managing the 17 member designer team.

Prior to joining the BDC, she was the Sales Director for StarMed Staffing and managed 14 on-site recruiters, and a total staff of 21, for contract nurse employees. She achieved over $12 million in monthly revenue, was responsible for new business development and recruitment and additionally created, hired and trained sales staff in relationship sales skill sets.

Originally from Boulder, Colorado, Julie earned a BS in Business Administration from California State University, Long Beach and an MBA from University of California, Irvine.

Ed Del Grande, Master Plumber, GBCI LEED Green Associate, and Contractor

Ed Del Grande is a three-time Master Plumber, GBCI LEED green associate, and contractor. He was born and raised in a family-owned plumbing business, and has over 30-plus years of experience in every aspect of construction. He holds three current Master licenses in pipefitting, fire protection, and plumbing, and is also a licensed private pilot and a licensed Coast Guard OUPV Charter Boat Captain.

Ed spent his days working as a self-employed contractor and working nights as a professional comedian from 1981–1991. He worked his way up the comedy ladder and was voted one of the funniest comedians in America by Showtime TV; he also appeared on ABC TV’s America’s Funniest People. Then, in 1992, Ed retired from comedy to combine his performing and construction talents and became one of the early pioneers in home-improvement television. Starting on HGTV with shows such as Dream Builders and The Fix, Ed later went on to help build the DIY Network and HGTVpro.com with shows such as Warehouse Warriors and Ed The Plumber. Today, Ed has grown to become one of the most respected and experienced how-to personalities in the media business.

Along with his television and video work, Ed writes a weekly nationally-syndicated newspaper column for Scripps/Howard News service, and also wrote his first book, Ed Del Grande’s House Call, published by the Penguin/Viking Studio Group. Ed speaks at live events and trade shows across the country and is currently the “how-to expert/spokesperson” for the Kohler and Sterling companies. Ed has also done work for the Autodesk, Amtrol, Porta-cable, and Thoroseal companies.

Ed has proven himself to be one of the most entertaining and informative home improvement guests for radio and TV talk shows and news broadcasts with appearances on the Ellen show, The Martha Stewart Show, The Today Show, NBC, MSNBC, and CNNs Open House show, to name a few. He also has been written up in major newspapers and magazines, such as the New York Times, the Chicago Sun Times, the Boston Herald, Money Magazine, and TV Guide, among others.

Andrew Sidford is the Proprietor and Principal of an award winning architectural firm, Andrew M. Sidford Architects P.C., located in Newburyport, MA.  A licensed Architect, Andrew has been practicing since 1985; his experience ranges from historic renovation, to cutting edge contemporary, from single family homes to large scale commercial and institutional projects.  Notable projects include Marine Biological Laboratory’s Marshview Farm Research Facility; The Ripley Boyd Residence in Weston, MA; Renovation of the First Religious Society Unitarian Universalist Meeting House; Boston Psychoanalytic Institute and Society’s Headquarters, The Newburyport YWCA Residences; and the renovation of the historic Greenleaf Residence on the Ridge in Newburyport.

Green design has always been a component of Andrew’s work. His commitment extends to his community where he has held several leadership roles including Vice Chairman of the Newburyport Redevelopment Authority, Board of Directors of the Northeast Family YMCA and Board of Directors of Advisors of the Appalachian Mountain Club.  Andrew Sidford Architects is the first architectural firm to join 1% For The Planet, an international environmental group whose members pledge one percent of their profits to environmental causes.

He has been principal of Walden Gifts and Nursery.  Paul is the Director of Horticulture at the Comcast Center for the Performing Arts, a teacher, lecturer and nationally recognized horticultural consultant. Paul has served as judge at the New England Flower Show, Rhode Island Flower Show, and the Central Massachusetts Flower Show. He is an instructor for the Massachusetts Horticultural Society Master Gardener’s Class and the Natick Community Organic Farm.  Paul Lectures at the Boston, Rhode Island, Philadelphia and Worcester Flower Shows.
